My name is Joni Prchal Podalak and I have been teaching for a number years at the nearby community college. Lately, I have been quite involved in the non-credit area including corporate training, job re-training, one-day seminars, as well as a number of courses for senior citizens. My classes deviate from the norm, though I must admit that I just love teaching to students who "want" to learn as much as possible. I am married and have two sons in college. They both play volleyball for the University and so I am a "groupie" who follows the team from state to state. Knowing that these fun days will end soon, I enjoy every moment with my family.
Grade Level/Discipline:
My field of expertise is for both credit and non-credit classes and so I teach all ages from 18-90 (seriously!)
Few Facts about myself:
Though I must admit that technology is one of my favorite past time, I do have other interests that fill up my life.
Fact 1: Because of college tuition bills (including my own), my love of travel has been curtailed and seems to be limited to volleyball games, but the end is in sight and so the planning begins.
Fact 2: My husband has a small architectural firm, allowing me to use some of my technology skills out of the classroom.
Fact 3: I like to sew and find it very relaxing.
Fact 4: Most of all, my family is my greatest past time.
What I'd like to learn or get out of this course:
While my course outlines are provided to me, I hope to incorporate more web activities into my various class levels.
My favorite game:
My favorite game is Jeopardy, the epitome of learning while having fun. It is a real incentive for me to turn off my cell phone in public places because otherwise the Jeopardy theme song echoes loudly whenever I have an incoming call.
